"A need for such a facility has been recognised in this area and the people in the community will no longer have to travel long distances to use this type facility," said the Minister.

Cork County Council will also provide financial assistance for this facility and will manage the playground when it is opened.
Announcing the grant, Mr Ó Cuív said that he was pleased that the Department was able to help Coiste Tithíochta Uí Laoghaire in developing this playground.
"I am delighted that my Department is able to approve this grant so that communities such as the Béal Átha an Ghaorthaidh community can have access to playground facilities in the local area," he added.
