A new €8.8 million social housing scheme officially launched in County Louth recently.
The Ferrard Park development in Drogheda contains 28 new houses which were acquired by Louth County Council from CFS Homes for tenants from the council's social housing waiting list.
The houses, which include a mix of 2 and 3 bedroom two-storey homes, have been delivered by Louth County Council through SHCIP Part V and turnkey funding.
Located in The Twenties area, the new houses are 'A' Rated terraced properties offering state of the art modern living.
Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council, Cllr Kevin Callan, officially launched the new housing scheme in the presence of the Mayor of Drogheda, Cllr Paddy McQuillan.
The event was attended by Tim McNulty, from the developer CFS Group, and some of the families that have been allocated new homes.
Cllr Kevin Callan said: "I am delighted to welcome the launch of the new social housing scheme at Ferrard Park, where it is great to see a number of houses already occupied and tenants settling into their new homes.
"This part of Drogheda is being transformed with new housing and new roads improving access to other parts of the town and public transport available nearby.
"I want to praise Louth County Council for their work in acquiring these units, and for their ongoing commitment to provide homes for those on the social housing waiting list."
Joe McGuinness, Temporary Chief Executive, Louth County Council added: "Louth County Council is committed to providing high quality and sustainable housing and fostering vibrant communities across the county.
"The launch of this 28-unit social housing scheme at Ferrard Park, Drogheda, highlights Louth County Council's continued commitment to delivering an extensive housing programme.
"This scheme, which was constructed by CFS Homes Ltd, will provide a further supply of high-quality homes for housing applicants and assist in meeting our housing targets, set out in the national housing plan, 'Housing for All'."
