Environment Minister John Gormley officially launched the final consultation process on proposals for the review of Part M of the Building Regulations.
Part M regulations are related to access issues within new buildings and the accessibility of facilities when buildings are redeveloped. Other amendments are also proposed for new builds.

New regulations are due to come into effect on 1 July 2010.
The Draft Building Regulations (Part M Amendment) Regulations 2009, Draft Technical Guidance Document M (Access and Use) and Summary of Regulatory Impact Assessment have now been published.
Mr Gormley said he welcomes submissions on the proposals from all interested parties.
Submissions should be made in writing or by e-mail by Friday, 9 October 2009.
