Over £2m Works For Cookstown's Roads

Over £2.3m worth of road improvements have been sanctioned for the Cookstown area this year.

Roads Minister Conor Murphy said design work on the proposed Cookstown bypass is progressing well.

Public consultation was held in January, with a further public information event to announce the preferred route alignment expected later this financial year.


"This year's increased allocation will allow a larger number of resurfacing schemes to proceed on local roads this financial year which includes the B161 Mullanahoe Road, the C612 Orritor Road and the B161 Drumenny Road," said the Minister.

Road Service's Divisional Roads Manager Pat Doherty said the provision of a footbridge at Ballinderry will also be undertaken this year.

Sight line improvement works will be completed at the B160 Sherrigrim Road Blacktown Road junction, the B160/ C564 Ballynargan Road, and traffic calming schemes are planned at Northland Road / Drive, Moneymore and at Princess Avenue / Milburn area of Cookstown.
