Construction Of £2.5 Fermanagh School Starts

Work has commenced on a new £2.6m Fermanagh primary school facility.

The controlled educational building will be located in the town of Lisbellaw.

Construction work will take place on the site of the existing school and is expected to be complete by the summer of next year.

The new building will include eight state-of-the-art classrooms.


Enniskillen-based Tracey Brothers has been appointed contractor.

The firm, which is part of the FHT consortium, is currently working with the Western Education Board to limit disruption to pupils in the current school.

Western Board boss Barry Mulholland lauded the efforts of the school's Board of Governors and teaching staff in bringing the project forward.

The scheme has been awarded through the Education Department’s Major Works Framework.

School principal Valerie Adams said: "I am delighted that the much awaited school will be ready for use in September 2010 and that it will be available for use by the whole community."
