Twenty-six housing projects will benefit from the funds, announced by the Department of the Environment.
The cash will also contribute to five separate remedial works schemes around the country.
The projects are likely to generate a much-needed boost for the domestic construction industry.

A total of 19 local authorities are to undertake works on their housing stock.
Spanning over the next three years, the €77m scheme is expected to yield more than 380 new units.
A further €17m has been set aside to complete efficiency work on homes, in a bid to improve energy consumption and general quality of housing.
This environment improvement scheme is targeted at five disadvantaged estates around the country.
These include Parkview Estate in Charlestown, Mayo, Boyce's Street in Cork City, St. Mary's Crescent in Fermoy, Clusters of houses in Boyle, Co. Roscommon and Cushlawn, Greenfort & Shancastle estates in South Dublin.
