Consultation Opens On Limerick Regeneration

Residents in Limerick have been offered the chance to provide feedback on development plans for the city.

Council officials outlined a number of major regeneration schemes planned for the city late last year, which will now be the subject of public consultation.

This is the start of a two year process were anyone with interests in the planning and sustainable development of Limerick city can have their say by contributing to the new plans.


The consultation is relevant to schemes planned between 2010 and 2016.

The preparatory process is divided into three stages pre-draft, preparation of draft plan and the eventual creation of the development plan.

A Limerick council spokesman said: "Public consultation will happen in a number of ways throughout the coming weeks, key dates and times for meetings will be advertised. This will last until the 16 February 2009.

"An issues paper has been drafted to inform the public of the current and more pressing issues that Limerick city now faces, and to consult with people so we can find out what issues and concerns they may have in relation to the area."

Last year Limerick City Council unveiled a major €50m regeneration plan, which it says will transform the city into one of Europe's 'most vibrant and living centres'.
