NI Health & Safety Board Gets New Members

Four new members have been appointed to the Board of the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI).

NI Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Arlene Foster has announced the appointments as Gerard Campbell; Crosby Cleland; Lyn Fawcett and Pat Lyons.

Mrs Foster said: "The four new members bring with them an array of skills and experience to best complement those of existing board members.

"This, I believe, will make for a strong board and enhance HSENI's overall effectiveness and success. I wish the new members well in their appointments.


"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing board members for all of their hard work over the last three years, and acknowledge the continued contributions and commitment of the Board Chairman Professor Peter McKie and existing board members," she said.

The new members have been appointed for three years with effect from 1 October. Members currently receive £3,520 each per annum.

The Minister has also agreed to promote existing Board member, Stephanie Lowry, to HSENI Deputy Chairperson.

The appointments have been made in accordance with the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland Code of Practice. All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.

However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for the political activity of appointees (if any declared) to be published.
