Bord Gáis Networks has officialled opened its relocated training school in Finglas.
Location in Donmoy House, Bord Gáis Networks hopes the purpose-built facility will support the learning and growth of staff, contractors and the wider gas industry in areas of safety, technical and functional training.
The Bord Gáis Networks Training School has operated for a number of years, promoting the safe practice of gas distribution and customer installations.
Bord Gáis said its investment in training has led to increased consumer confidence in its products, regarding safety and cleanliness.
Bord Gáis Chief Executive, John Mullins, said: "Training facilities such as this one support the ongoing requirement to perform in an ever-changing work environment and will support an active learning culture for all.
"The competency and behaviour of those who work for Bord Gáis, either directly or indirectly, affects human lives, well-being and the overall safety performance of the business."
The training school moved from Century Business Park in Finglas to its new St. Margaret's Road premises, which has provided more space.
Mick Kavanagh, Training School Manager, said: "This new venue provided us with the opportunity to work with a blank canvas and to build a facility that would reflect the specific training requirements of Bord Gáis Networks.
"The school is now better equipped to deal with the various courses that the industry needs to sustain the high standard of competency and safety."
The school has two purpose built class rooms and three workshops, one of which contains dedicated assessment bays and a canteen.
Electrical and gas points fed to work benches, enabling trainees to work at ease and absorb technical concepts first hand.
The evolution of the gas boiler is also on show, from original open flue types to the ultra efficient condensing boilers used today.
A large number of gas boiler manufactures are represented in the school to provide maximum exposure to the varied systems in circulation.
