The Northern Ireland Housing Executive has been awarded a major contract to improve 31 bungalows at Townparks North, in Antrim.
Patsy Smyth, Antrim District Manager, has described the scheme as an important step in helping to deliver the Decent Homes Standard for all its properties.
Ms Smyth said: "This contract is a key part of the Housing Executive's work in the Antrim District, as we continue to modernise our housing stock.
"The contract is designed to ensure that residents, many of whom are elderly, will have good quality, modern homes in an attractive environment.
"By doing so, we are helping ensure that tenants have homes that meet the Decent Homes Standard in terms of fitness, energy efficiency and facilities such as kitchens and bathrooms.
"The Townparks North contract is geared to achieving this standard, with homes benefiting from improved internal layout, new kitchens and bathrooms, new central heating systems, servicing PVC windows, upgraded electrical and plumbing services and improved insulation.
"In addition, the contracts include extensive maintenance and general repairs, together with environmental improvements.
"With such extensive work, consultation with residents was a vital part of the planning process for the scheme, so that we could take account of particular needs that individual residents may have and discuss temporary housing arrangements.
"Our Estate Management staff will continue to be available to liaise with residents as work progresses," added Ms Smyth.
