A Strabane farmer has been fined £1,500 plus £95 court costs at Strabane Magistrates' Court, for failing to comply with an Enforcement Notice.
Alastair James Thompson of Ballee Road, Strabane, was fined for failing to comply with an Enforcement Notice requiring him to remove a mobile home from his land adjacent to Ballee Road, Strabane, County Tyrone.
The Enforcement Notice was issued on 21 September 2007 and after failing to comply, Mr Thompson's case was first heard at Strabane Magistrates' Court on 12 June 2007 where he pleaded not guilty. The contested hearing took place today.
The Planning Service brought the action under Article 67A(1)(a) of the Planning (NI) Order 1991.
Meanwhile, a Belfast man has been fined £7,500 plus £88 court costs for failing to comply with a planning enforcement notice on land in Co. Fermanagh.
Edward Sayers of Killown Street, Belfast was fined at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on the 9th July 2008 for failing to cease the use of land for the storage of cabins, vehicles, commercial catering appliances and furniture on land adjacent to Riverside Park, Ballinamallard, County Fermanagh.
The Enforcement Notice was issued on 16 November 2006 and after failing to comply, Mr Sayers' case was first heard at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on 4 July 2007, at which time a fine of £500 plus costs of £85 was imposed. Further non-compliance resulted in Planning Service referring the case back to the court for the continuing offence.
The Planning Service brought the action under Article 67A(1)(a) of the Planning (NI) Order 1991.
