CIOB And HETAC To Work Together

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and Ireland's Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC) have struck an agreement to promote the development of built environment qualifications in Ireland.

As part of that agreement the CIOB will recognise level 8 construction degree programmes, accredited by HETAC, as fulfilling the academic requirements for corporate membership of the CIOB.

This agreement also includes opportunities for Irish institutes to develop programmes validated by HETAC for practitioners to convert a level 7 award to a level 8 award, giving credit for post award formal/informal learning activity.


Chris Blythe CIOB Chief Executive said: "Construction is a mass employer in Ireland, with almost 300,000 people working in the industry. This agreement further reinforces our commitment to help develop the Irish construction industry through quality qualifications fit for purpose and fit for the future."

Séamus Puirséil, Chief Executive of HETAC added: "I look forward to developing a closer working relationship between CIOB and HETAC, which will be mutually beneficial to both organisations and will be in the interests of qualifications related to the built environment."
