With waste totalling an estimated 1,500 tonnes per year this will be one of the most ambitious recycling projects in Ireland.

The store which opens on Thursday has put in place many measures to show it takes environmental responsibility seriously.
Measures include a methane protection zone underneath the floor providing a 'clean air blanket', a rainwater harvesting system to supply water for lavatory flushing, a biomass system that will provide a wood pellet central heating system for the entire store and a customer recycling service.
