Improvement Work To Be Carried Out At Quin Garda Station

The office of Public Works (OPW) has confirmed that it intends to carry out improvement work at Quin Garda Station.

Dáil Minister Tony Killeen of State and Clare stated that the OPW is proposing to carry out alterations and additions to the building in two phases.

Mr Killeen said: "'I very much welcome the announcement that refurbishment works will shortly commence at Quin Garda Station. It is hugely important that members of An Garda Síochána are in a position to work in modern facilities."


"Rank and file members of An Garda Síochána are now benefiting from working in fully equipped facilities due to the great deal of work undertaken to upgrade existing and build new Garda Stations throughout the country. Recently, for example, the OPW sanctioned improvement works at Garda Stations in Doonbeg and Newmarket-on-Fergus" added Minister Killeen.

Describing the proposed works at Quin Garda Station, the Minister said: "The first phase will involve modifications to the vehicular and pedestrian entrances, as well as works to replace the existing windows and doors throughout. Due to the nature of these works, it will be necessary to submit proposals for a formal planning consultation with Clare County Council. It is expected that the planning process will commence in the next two weeks and, subject to its approval, it is envisaged that a contractor will be on site by February 2008."

Phase two will commence shortly after Phase one.
