Atlas Aluminium Confirms Christmas Closure

Limerick based Atlas Aluminium has confirmed it will close before Christmas.

In total 163 workers will lose their jobs.

A company spokesperson attributed the decision to loss of substantial customer business contracts making operations no longer financially viable.


The company will close in the next four to six weeks.

Atlas, which provides over 200,000 parts for major motor manufacturers, had faced a two-week strike over claims that Polish workers were being treated unfairly at the Dock Road plant.

The company confirmed that last Friday, on the recommendation of their Siptu union representatives, employees voted to end their industrial action.
