Organisations Compete For Company Of The Year Award

Ten Irish organisations, including one hospital department and a statutory body, are among the 12 companies who have made the shortlist in the prestigious Engineers Ireland Continuing Professional Development (CPD) 'Company of the Year Award'.

The award recognises those companies that have demonstrated clear-cut business benefits arising directly from their CPD practices in developing engineering employees.

John Power, Director General of Engineers Ireland expressed his delight with the large number of high quality entries received. He stated: "Ireland Inc. needs to be able to compete successfully in a global marketplace. Organisations that adopt best practice in the continuing professional development of their employees are giving themselves an edge when it comes to recruitment and retention as they will attract and retain the most talented individuals. The Engineers Ireland CPD programme is making a vital contribution to Ireland's growing competitiveness."


All finalists have achieved Engineers Ireland CPD Accreditation which recognises and stimulates good organisational practice in the area of professional development for engineers and technical staff.

The Engineers Ireland CPD scheme is supported by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and plays an important role in the Government's objective to build a knowledge economy. More than 300 organisations are formally involved in the Engineers Ireland CPD Accreditation Scheme. The award, now in its fourth year, is designed to identify and share best CPD practices and to celebrate the achievements of accredited organisations.
