£16m Belfast Streets Ahead Project Advances

Global construction and management consultancy, Turner & Townsend have been appointed to provide detailed costings for the first phase of the £16 million regeneration of Belfast City Centre.

The projects, known as 'Belfast: Streets Ahead', is the vision of the Department for Social Development to raise the quality and profile of the burgeoning City as an international destination. It’s aim is to bring in investment from outside Northern Ireland, encourage business development, and contribute to a reduction in crime by making the city centre safer and more people-friendly.


The entire development is to be phased over a 10-year period with the phase completing in 2009.

George McComish, Associate Director, said: "Turner & Townsend is delighted to have secured the cost management role in such a prestigious project. It is a great privilege to have key involvement in a scheme from the master planning stage through to construction on site.

"The Belfast regeneration will benefit many of its stakeholders, including Turner & Townsend which has just recently relocated to new premises in the City."
