Key Milestone Achieved In Clontarf To City Centre Scheme

Construction News Image
Dublin City Council has announced that, starting from Sunday 1 September 2024, the inbound general traffic diversion between Edge's Corner (Fairview Strand) and the Five Lamps Junction will be lifted, marking a key milestone in the Clontarf to City Centre (C2CC) Scheme.

This diversion, which rerouted inbound traffic via Ballybough and Portland Row, has been a crucial component in facilitating the progress of construction along North Strand Road.

With substantial progress achieved on the outbound side of North Strand Road in recent months, the reopening of the inbound lane on Annesley Bridge Road and North Strand Road represents a crucial milestone in the completion of the C2CC Scheme.

This development also signifies the realisation of a key component of Dublin City Council''s Active Travel Network, improving access, connectivity and sustainable mobility, while contributing to a citywide reduction in transport-related carbon emissions.

Victor Coe, Project Resident Engineer for the Dublin City Council Active Travel Programme said: "The lifting of the inbound diversion between Edge’s Corner and Five Lamps Junction is a major milestone in the Clontarf to City Centre Scheme. We appreciate the patience of commuters and local residents as we work to enhance the city’s infrastructure. This change will ease traffic flow while we continue to complete the final phases of the project, which will ultimately provide safer, inclusive and more sustainable travel options for everyone."

The C2CC Scheme is due to be fully completed in Q4 2024.
