Farrans' Manager Shortlisted For Inspiring Women In Construction And Engineering Award

Construction News Image
Farrans has announced that Trea Crozier, its Commercial Framework Manager, has been shortlisted for the Inspirational Leader – Contractor Category at the National Inspiring Women in Construction & Engineering Awards.

Trea will participate in a workshop alongside other shortlisted candidates before finding out the results at the conference and awards ceremony on September 17 2024.

Speaking about this recognition Trea said: "I’m thrilled to be shortlisted for the inspirational leader award. I feel it’s important to be visible and to help motivate the upcoming generation to join this vibrant industry. I strongly believe that having females in leadership roles can inspire confidence and ambition in others. There are so many talents and skills we are missing out on due to the lack of diversity in the construction industry.

"Construction isn’t always an obvious choice for women, but I believe it has something to offer everyone. I was drawn to the industry due to the vast amount of options available, the varied roles and projects really appealed to me, that sense of achievement of actually completing a project is second to none. I thrive working in teams and building relationships, so the industry really ticked those boxes for me too. For the younger generations joining the industry, my advice would be to focus on building a strong foundation of technical knowledge with as much hands-on experience as you can get.

"Don’t be afraid to ask questions, most people love the chance to share their knowledge and the industry is full of people with a wealth of experience. Networking is another crucial aspect of establishing a successful career in construction. Join professional organisations, attend industry events and connect with other women in the field. These networks can provide valuable support, advice, and opportunities for career growth. Additionally, don’t hesitate to advocate for yourself and seek out roles and responsibilities that align with your career goals.

"Ultimately we need to create a vibrant workplace where everyone regardless of gender, can realise their full potential, but to do that we need to address the gender imbalance that currently exists, and each person in the construction industry has a part to play in that."
