NI Water is to start work to install a new surface water (rainwater) sewer on the Hilltown Road in Bryansford, to serve a new housing development.
The work, which is due to get underway on Monday 3 June, will involve the installation of 127m of pipe and the construction of associated manholes between the new housing site and a local watercourse.
NI Water Project Manager Ian O’Hare said: "Pipelaying works will start near the site of the old Post Office - where the new pipe will discharge to an existing watercourse - and progress along Hilltown Road towards the development site adjacent to the Church of Ireland.
"To carry out the work as safely as possible, a lane closure will be in place around any working area Monday to Friday. Two-way traffic lights will be in place to maintain traffic flow and access to local bus stops will be provided. The work is expected to take approximately 4-5 weeks to complete overall.
"Hilltown Road will remain open at all times and our contractor will liaise with any affected properties along the pipeline route with regards to access, bin collections and deliveries etc. A letter drop has been completed in the area and signage erected to inform the wider public. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the duration of the works and motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
"NI Water and our project team from CivCo and AtkinsRéalis take this opportunity to thank the local community in advance for their patience and cooperation while we undertake this essential work to support housing development in Bryansford. Our contractor will strive to keep disruption to a minimum and complete the work in the shortest possible timeframe."
