Mivan has congratulated its apprentices who have achieved top honours at the recent joinery qualifier intercampus events across Northern Ireland's regional colleges.
Mivan takes the spotlight as three of its apprentices took the top position not only in one, but in three out of five college regions in Northern Ireland. Ethan McKenna, a 1st Year Joinery Apprentice, emerged victorious at the Southern Regional College (SRC) competition, while Charlie Fleck, also a 1st Year Joinery Apprentice, triumphed at the Northern Regional College (NRC) event. Adding to the accolades, Tom Gallagher, a 2nd Year Joinery Apprentice, claimed first place at the Belfast Met qualifier.
At the NRC event, Andrew Mackenzie, 1st Year Joinery Apprentice, and Jamie Matthews, 2nd Year Joinery Apprentice secured 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
Mivan eagerly looks forward to the advancement of these young apprentices to the Northern Ireland Regional Qualifier in Joinery. There, they will compete for a sought-after spot at the SkillBuild UK Finals.
SkillBuild, administered by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), stands as the premier multi-trade competition for construction trainees and apprentices. As a testament to its stature as the largest and most enduring construction skills competition, SkillBuild seeks individuals whose skills and talent are destined to endure.
The Regional Qualifiers, held annually from February to June, bring together apprentices and trainees. The top eight highest-scoring competitors in each specialist skill move forward to compete in the SkillBuild National Final.
Charley McAuley, Apprentice Mentor at Mivan, said: "I am truly thrilled. All of us at Mivan are immensely proud of our young apprentices. While we strive to identify the most talented individuals for our program, it is only when they begin their journey with us that we witness their true potential. I am delighted that so many apprentices clinched top positions and eagerly await their progress to the NI Regional Qualifier in May. I urge any aspiring joiners to attend our open day on the 19th or 20th of March to discover more about a career in joinery."
