Construction News Image
The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) is set to present the EUmies Award at the Printworks, Dublin Castle from 16 January until 14 February 2024.

The EUmies Award is an exhibition of Europe's Best Architecture featuring models, texts, videos, sketches and drawings of the 40 shortlisted works and a summary of all 532 nominees.

In 2022 the EU Mies Award was awarded for the first time to an Irish practice, Grafton Architects, for Town House Kingston.

The exhibition provides an opportunity to discuss shared European values and objectives around the built environment as well as aligning with the National Policy on Architecture, Places for People, and the objectives and values of the New European Bauhaus – a creative and interdisciplinary initiative that connects the European Green Deal to our living spaces and experiences.

The RIAI said it will work to maximise public engagement with the Exhibition and to promote a discourse around quality architecture and the benefit it brings to communities.

Since 1988, the European Commission and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe of Barcelona have been jointly responsible for this prestigious biennial award, which recognises and commends excellence in the field of architecture and draws attention to the important contribution of European professionals in the development of new ideas and technologies. The Prize objectives aim at promoting quality and reflecting the complexity of architecture’s significance in society.

EUmies award-winners Grafton Architects will present the official opening talk on 17 January at 6.00 pm and finalists Deadline Architekten will hold a lecture on their innovative cultural and housing project Frizz23 in Berlin on 31 January at 6.00 pm.
