Ward and Burke Construction Ltd has been appointed to replace over one kilometre of aged water mains in Fossa, County Kerry.
Uisce Éireann has teamed up with Kerry County Council to improve the water supply for local residents by minimising disruption to the water supply which is caused by bursts and leaks.
The essential works will begin next week and will be completed by February 2024. The works will take place along a section of the N72 from The Golden Nugget Bar & Restaurant and end just before Fossa Guest Accommodation.
Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, Jack Cronin said: "The section of water main that we are replacing has burst several times recently, so we are delighted to progress these upgrades for the local community, providing them with a more reliable water supply. To deliver the works safely and efficiently, short sections along the N72 will have a stop-go traffic management system in place.
"These works are part of a significant investment programme by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network in Kerry, prioritising investment where it is needed most and enabling these communities to thrive. We would like to thank customers in advance for their cooperation and patience while we complete these essential works."
Uisce Éireann has said that the works may involve some short-term water interruptions and the project team will give customers 48 hours notice prior to any planned disruption.
