Uisce Éireann has appointed Ward & Burke Construction Ltd to replace almost 800 metres of damaged water mains in Fedamore.
By replacing the old water mains with new modern pipes, the water supply to customers in the area will be improved and the risk of leaks will be reduced.
The works will take place from Fedamore Church to a point 100 metres beyond the junction with the R511 at the eastern side of Fedamore.
In order to facilitate the works a road closure will be in place along the L1143-209. The road closure times will be in place 24-hours a day from 8.00am on 20 November to 6.00pm on 15 December.
Kevin Murphy, Leakage Reduction Programme Regional Lead with Uisce Éireann said: "Replacing these old and damaged pipes is a first step in tackling low water pressure, bursts, and leakage issues which have been affecting homes and businesses in Fedamore. The new pipes will not only reduce the number of water interruptions but will provide security of supply for generations of local people.
"On behalf of Uisce Éireann, I would like to thank the local community for their patience and cooperation as this project continues to progress. Based on previous experiences, we know that the short-term inconvenience will be overshadowed by the long-term benefits."
The works will be completed by February 2024.
