A second public consultation has been launched on the Sligo Leitrim Northern Counties Railway (SLNCR) Greenway.
The project will provide a Greenway from Sligo town to Enniskillen, passing through Collooney, Ballintogher, Dromahair, Manorhamilton, Glenfarne, Blacklion, Belcoo and Letterbreen on the way.
As the project is currently at Phase 2 Options Selections, all options will be examined to determine a Preferred Option. All reasonable options are examined including their costs, benefits and effects on the environment.
The SLNCR Sligo to Enniskillen Greenway is being developed by local councils. Leitrim County Council has partnered with Sligo County Council, Cavan County Council and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.
The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) and Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) are supporting the project.
The SLNCR Greenway will link the Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland, bringing communities together and promoting cross border tourism.
Leitrim County Council has appointed Arup to provide multi-disciplinary engineering and other specialist consultancy services. The company will bring the project through the planning process in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, as well as providing documents for the construction of the SLNCR Greenway that comply with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) Project Management Guideline documents.
The second public consultation where stakeholders will receive the proposed option is currently underway and will end on 17 November. Project Liaison Officers (PLOs) and the Project Team will be
available to provide information on the proposed options, enabling stakeholders to provide feedback.
Public open days are scheduled to take place as follows:
