CITB Announces Quality Control Training Course

Construction Industry Training Board Northern Ireland (CITB NI) has announced a course for those in the construction industry who carry out quality control checks.

The course takes place on the 26 October at CITB NI from 9.15am to 1.00pm.

Those responsible for carrying out quality control checks on a construction project, from site supervisors, engineers, to project managers, clients and designers are welcome to attend.

By the end of the course, delegates will have a greater understanding of the criteria for quality inspections on construction sites. Using information from manufacturers, participants will be able to ensure that the products used and the placement methods meet the requirements.

The course will entail of one hour of practical training and two hours of theory, which will include:

Part A Concrete

• Reviewing the specification – the key information regarding quality.

• Consistency / Slump – the correct procedure to follow on site from equipment through to practical application.

• Compressive strength – Concrete Cubes – the correct procedure to follow on site from equipment through to practical application.

• Reviewing test results for conformity.

• Placing and compacting concrete – Best Practice.

Part B Reinforcement

• Traceability of reinforcement – identifying counterfeit products.

• Reading reinforcement drawings – understanding the Bar Mark information, including shape code and position.

• Fixing of reinforcement – Best Practice to achieve quality.

Due to this training course including a practical element, PPE must be worn. Safety gloves and goggles will be supplied. Participants should bring a High Vis vest and safety shoes or boots.
