Translink Appoints FP McCann To Bridge Refurb Programme

NI concrete manufacturer and supplier, FP McCann has been appointed to undertake site investigations and provide access to design consultants on Translink's Bridge Refurbishment Phase Three Contract.

As part of the phase three programme, 11 bridge structures have been identified as requiring intervention works. Refurbishment works include steelwork, concrete, masonry repairs, waterproofing and painting.

The services required to be completed in the project are:

• Undertaking the role of Principal Contractor, to coordinate all investigative works onsite and develop the safe system to undertake these works.

• Procuring and managing all third-party investigations, including topography surveys and ground investigation.

• Undertaking intrusive works to expose hidden critical elements and permit their examination which will include structural break outs, concrete and masonry coring, and trial pits.

• Undertaking and managing all sampling and testing requirements.

• Reinstatement of all investigative openings following completion of the surveys and examinations etc. to the satisfaction of the Translink Design Consulting Engineer.

• Provision of access to each of the identified structures for Site and Ground Investigation teams, Topographical Surveyors and Translink’s Design Consultants. Access provision will include but is not limited to access to height, access on or near the line, arranging and managing road closures, confined space access and access to work locations on or near water.
