New Park In Belfast To Officially Open

Belfast's newest park which opens on Saturday, 16 September, will offer the chance for communities "to come together, enjoy events, get active and have fun".

The new linear park, known as Springvale Park on the Forth Meadow Community Greenway, connects the West Circular Road and Springfield Road.

Mr Joe Duffy, Chair of Belfast City Council's Shared City Partnership, said: "The opening of this new linear park and shared space will mean that people will be able to walk or cycle along the full 12km route of the Forth Meadow Community Greenway uninterrupted for the first time from this weekend."


The park's opening also coincides with the unveiling of new pathways between Ballygomartin Road and Springfield Road.

Belfast City Council is delivering the project with funding provided by the EU's Peace IV Programme, the Department for Communities and the Department for Infrastructure. Northern Ireland's Executive Office and the Department of Rural and Community Development in Ireland have provided support for the PEACE IV element of the project.

In the coming months the final stage of the £5.1 million project will see new visitor information signs and directional signage being installed.
