Views Sought On Limerick Active Travel Scheme

Construction News Image
The development of an Active Travel Scheme linking Parnell Street to Clare Street in Limerick is to be shaped with views from the public.

An in-person consultation event will be held in the heart of the city centre on Wednesday 26 April, offering the public an opportunity to view and comment on the proposed designs. A virtual public consultation room is to go live on the same day and will remain open for a month.

The project is being delivered by Limerick City and County Council's Active Travel team and is funded by the National Transport Authority.

It is proposed to connect the Colbert Station Quarter to Park Canal and the University of Limerick via a pedestrian and cycle facility. The link would then additionally facilitate onward Active Travel connections to the National Technology Park (Castletroy), Annacotty, Castleconnell and Scarriff.

Senior Engineer with the Active Travel team at Limerick City and County Council, Sean McGlynn, commented: "Ensuring all stakeholders have the chance to put forward their views in relation to the expansion of the city's Active Travel and mobility network is very important. I would encourage all of those with an interest in the future direction of the city centre's transport infrastructure to play an active part in next week's non-statutory public consultation event."

The in-person consultation event is scheduled at Citizen Innovation Lab, UL City Campus, Sarsfield Street (V94 DW21) on Wednesday 26 April, between 12pm-3pm and 6pm-8pm. The virtual public consultation room is also available here from 26 April for a month.
