Leakage Reduction Campaign Continues Across Dublin

Uisce Éireann is moving forward with its campaign to drive down leakage across Dublin.

The utility and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council are working to upgrade the water supply in Belarmine, Stepaside. Scheduled to begin on Monday 27 March, work will involve the replacement of nearly 350m of old, cast-iron water mains on Kilgobin Road.

Matt Thomson, Leakage Reduction Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann said: "We are looking forward to starting these works to improve the local water supply in Belarmine. The works will not only reduce the amount of drinking water lost to leakage but will also provide a much more reliable water supply and improved water quality for generations to come.


"As part of the project, new water service connections will be installed from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries, and connecting into the customers' water supply. The works may involve some short-term supply interruptions which we understand may cause inconvenience, however, the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours' notice prior to any planned water interruptions."

GMC Utilities Group Ltd will carry out the project on behalf of Uisce Éireann, with completion expected by the end of May.
