NI Water is leading a project to lay a new storm sewer on the Killinchy Road to serve a new housing development in the area.
The work involves the installation of 290m of storm sewer and the construction of associated manholes, between Nos. 26 and 50 Killinchy Road. It will take approximately five weeks to complete and will require a lane closure Monday to Friday and a road closure over four weekends.
A temporary weekday lane closure will be in place on the Killinchy Road around the works area. During this time, two-way traffic will be maintained with the use of manned temporary signals. Vehicular access will be maintained for residents, but at times could be subject to delay. Pedestrian access will be available at all times. Normal working hours will be 7.30am to 5pm; however, it may be necessary on occasions for work to be undertaken outside of these hours.

Speaking about the weekend closures, NI Water Project Manager Tom Lester said: "Part of this essential pipelaying work will involve very deep excavations at narrow sections of road. To ensure contractor safety, these excavations will need to be carried out under a full road closure and have been planned over four consecutive weekends, beginning 15th October. During this time there will be no through road access for the public. Access for residents located within a live works area will be provided but may be subject to delay. To ensure maximum safety for the public and our construction workers, we would kindly ask all other residents whose properties are located outside the live working area to follow the diversion route. Weekend working hours will be 7am to 11pm and pedestrian access will be maintained where possible.
"Signage is in place to advise motorists of the work and the approved diversion route will be signposted ahead of any road closure being implemented.

We will do everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum and complete the work as soon as is practicably possible."
