Transformation Of Swords Park Undergoes Consultation

Construction News Image
Members of the public have been invited to shape the transformation of the Ward River Regional Park in Swords.

A Community Consultation Session will take place this weekend, Saturday 08 October, to inform the future development of the park.

Fingal County Council recently announced it is looking to create a vastly enhanced Ward River Regional Park, which covers an 80 hectare (200 Acre) area between Swords town centre and Knocksedan Bridge. The Council believes that delivery of the Regional Park Project will help meet the demands of a growing population in the county town as well as providing an appealing destination for visitors to Swords.

Kevin Halpenny, Fingal's Senior Parks & Landscape Officer said: "Getting input from all our community as we look to make strategic improvements to Ward River Regional Park is key to us delivering a public facility that meets everybody's needs. We are very keen to work with residents, businesses and local groups as we look to transform the park. I'd like to encourage everyone to get involved and help us improve the park which will play such a unique and important role in our county town."

The first phase of public consultation will begin on Saturday 08 October, with an interactive design workshop to be held at Rivervalley Community Centre from 1pm to 4pm, where the public will be invited to meet with the design team and to share their local knowledge and initial ideas on the future of the park.

A short community survey is available online until Sunday 16 October.
