Kingspan has announced an exciting new acquisition as part of its continued expansion into the roofing and waterproofing sector.
The firm has acquired Ondura Group, a global business which focuses on waterproofing solutions for buildings.
This follows on from the recent acquisition of Derbigum - the Belgian-based premium waterproofing membrane producer with its unique 'No Roof to Waste' offering.
Together, these businesses are a key step in the formation of a new Division for Kingspan: Kingspan Roofing & Waterproofing.
The Ondura Group unites leading companies in their fields: Onduline (lightweight pitched roofing with high recycled content), CB (breathable membranes and roofing accessories) and alwitra (single ply flat roofing systems). The acquisition includes Ondura's factories in France, Germany, Poland, Spain, the United States, Malaysia, Brazil and Turkey. Ondura's five main ranges for pitched and flat roofs represent a very attractive opportunity for complementary growth.
With 70% of sales driven by renovation and refurbishment markets, focusing particularly on the residential sector, Ondura's companies – Onduline, alwitra and CB – offer a variety of growth and cross-selling opportunities, and position both Kingspan and the newest business in our family to meet the urgent need to improve the energy performance of existing building stock.
Kingspan will work with Ondura's existing management team, and the management teams of the three businesses within the Ondura Group, who will continue to manage and develop the group of businesses going forward.
Patrick Destang, CEO of Ondura Group, said: "The acquisition by Kingspan is excellent news for all the employees of Ondura. Kingspan's Planet Passionate ambition is very motivating and aligned with our own convictions: Our products have a high recyclable content, or allow reductions of energy consumption by reflecting light, or contribute to the performance of insulation in buildings. Both companies are truly international and operate in a decentralised manner, very close to the customers."
Donal Curtin, Managing Director of Kingspan Roofing & Waterproofing Division, added: "Ondura's management team, people and leading brands are a true asset to Kingspan, complementing our existing capabilities, products and solutions. As we continue to expand into the roofing and waterproofing categories, we look forward to growing together and sharing expertise. We're very excited to welcome the broader Ondura team to the Kingspan family and look forward to supporting the continued success of the business."
