Irish Water is leading work to replace old pipework on the outskirts of Roscommon Town with over half a kilometre of new mains.
When complete at the end of October, customers will enjoy improved water pressure.
Irish Water's Networks Regional Lead, Declan Cawley said: "We are aware of the pressure issues for our customers in the Lisnamult area, and these works will ensure they have a much more reliable supply of water. Instances of bursts and water outages will be reduced, and these new pipes will also put an end to the loss of clean drinking water into the ground."

The section of works will take place along the L-70524-0 and stop/go signals will be in place. However, locals can be assured that areas of work will be limited to short sections to minimise impact.
Irish Water customers will also be given a minimum of 48 hours' notice of any essential short-term interruptions to the local water supply.
"Working with Roscommon County Council, we prioritise works in the areas that need it most. Our customers in Lisnamult will see the benefits of replacing these old pipes first-hand," Declan added.
"We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient for local residents, and we thank the community for their continued co-operation and patience."
