Leakage Reduction Programme Progresses In Trim

An intensive campaign to drive down leakage is progressing across the County Meath town of Trim.

Irish Water is working alongside Meath County Council to upgrade the water main along the Dublin Road area of Trim, due to frequent bursts that have caused regular water outages in the area.

As part of these leak repair works, there will be disruption to the water supply on Wednesday, 20 July 2022, from 8am to 6pm. During these essential works, homes, and businesses along the Dublin Road will be impacted by water interruptions.

The works continue to be delivered as part of Irish Water's National Leakage Reduction Programme which continues to deliver significant benefits to the local community including improved water quality, a more secure water supply and considerable water savings.

Matt Thomson, Leakage Reduction Programme Regional Lead with Irish Water, said: "We are delighted to announce this upgrade for Trim. Replacing these old and damaged, pipes is a first step in tackling water quality, pressure and leakage issues which have been affecting homes and businesses.

"The works will not only reduce the amount of drinking water lost to leakage, but it will also significantly improve water quality for the local community as well as delivering a much more reliable supply for generations to come.

"On behalf of Irish Water, I would like thank the local community in Trim in advance for their patience and cooperation However, based on previous experiences, we know that the short-term inconvenience will be overshadowed by the long-term benefits."
