This rollout will begin with a online masterclass on water conservation in partnership with Chambers Ireland next week, 15 June.
Calling on all size businesses to sign up to the free class, Toni Forrester, CEO of Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce, said: "Letterkenny Chamber is delighted to be part of the Irish Water Sustainable Water Towns Initiative. With current pressures on businesses and the move to companies adopting sustainable development goals, this lunchtime masterclass is an opportunity for Donegal businesses to learn how to make changes that will positively impact their operations, their bottom line and add to their green credentials."
The class will provide business owners with the knowledge and expertise to lower water consumption and reduce operating costs while protecting the environment. Small changes such as identifying water waste on site, setting a baseline for water use, raising awareness amongst staff and customers or upgrading to water efficient devices can help to save water and money.

Rolling out Irish Water's Sustainable Water Towns Initiative is another way of enhancing and improving the town. Irish Water's Business Communications and Marketing Lead Christine Crawford is encouraging Letterkenny businesses to take the Water Conservation Pledge ahead of the masterclass.
"We are calling on the town's thriving industry to commit to making changes that will conserve water by taking the Water Conservation Pledge. It only takes two minutes online at water.ie and you can post your pledge on social media as a clear demonstration of Letterkenny's growing reputation and leadership on climate action and water stewardship."
Letterkenny joins three other towns across the country – Westport and Ballina in Co Mayo and Shannon in Co Clare – in leading the way with the Sustainable Water Towns Initiative.
Irish Water has developed three steps to support businesses to move to more sustainable water management. The first step is the Water Conservation Pledge which only takes minutes to complete. This is followed by free online Water Conservation Training, and finally businesses can enrol and become a Certified Water Steward.
