The next phase of the Ennis Public Realm Regeneration is set to be shaped thanks to a new public event.
Clare County Council is hosting a Public Information evening next week, Thursday 31 March, giving locals a chance to view the project plans and provide feedback. The local authority will be joined by Nicholas de Jong & Associates Urban Design and Tom McNamara & Partners in hosting the event.
The Public Realm Regeneration will significantly improve accessibility for pedestrians through the introduction of shared surface arrangements and by increasing footpath widths where possible. The Squares (Barrack Square and O'Connell Square) will be significantly enhanced to improve their amenity value and to facilitate their use as civic spaces. The completion of these projects will result in the rejuvenation of the Town Centre environment, making it more attractive and a better destination to spend time.
Advance enabling works involving the replacement of water mains by Irish Water and the upgrading of ESB underground cables are scheduled to commence in May 2022. The Public Realm Regeneration project works will follow thereafter. It is unavoidable that road closures will be necessary during construction.
The Project Team will present project phasing plans and outline preliminary scheduling at the event at the Civic Room, Buttermarket Building, Clare County Council, Drumbiggle Road, Ennis, (V95RR72).
All members of the public are encouraged to attend anytime between 5.30pm and 8pm.
