Essential water supply works have been announced in Ashbourne, Co Meath, starting next week.
Work will get underway on Monday 21 March and run until 2am on Tuesday 22 March to deliver new connection works at Rath Reservoir.
Irish Water and Meath County Council are delivering the works to help safeguard the water supply for local homes and businesse
While these ongoing improvements to the Ashbourne water supply network are underway customers across all of Ashbourne and surrounding areas will experience a temporary water outage. When works are complete it will take up to three hours for normal water supply to return to all customers but it is important to continue to follow the HSE guidance on hand-washing.
Irish Water is encouraging customers to conserve water while these essential works are underway.
Speaking about the works, Liam Henry, Irish Water said: "We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and working in partnership with Meath County Council we will make every effort to minimise any disruption that these necessary works may cause. The delivery of these essential works will help to safeguard the water supply to homes and businesses in the area ensuring a safer, more sustainable water supply.
"We are appealing to customers to continue to conserve, especially while these works are underway, by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible. Further information on water conservation is available on our website at www.water/conserve."
