Northern Ireland firm HALT is set to begin work on a new factory in Belfast.
The company, which provides an environmentally-friendly, non-toxic fire retardant treatment that impregnates timber, protecting it from combustion and slowing the spread of fire, will move forward with plans for the new purpose-built, 10,000 sq ft facility.
Sister company Pure Construction is getting ready to begin work at Springbank Industrial Estate to build the new development.
When complete, the new factory will consist of two main processing areas, one containing an autoclave to treat the products and the second to house a specialist kiln to dry the timber. The building will also have adjourning office accommodation. Sustainability and environmental performance will be at the fore of the new building with air source heat pumps and solar panels installed.
Noel McKernan, General Manager, HALT commented: "It is a very exciting time for everyone at HALT. The innovative technology we are utilising is industry leading and we are looking forward to working with the team at Pure Construction to get the factory up and running and to create new jobs in the local community."
Ronan Higham, Managing Director, Pure Construction added: "The new HALT factory will be the first of its kind in Ireland. The fire retardant treatment for timber is innovative and will become a requirement within the construction industry in the near future, improving fire safety in many types of buildings. This will be of monumental importance for our sector moving forward and we look forward to seeing HALT's future success."
The HALT factory at Springbank Industrial Estate in Belfast will be operational in early 2022.
