Water Supply Improvements Heading To Galway's Salthill

Construction News Image
Some Irish Water customers in Salthill, Co Galway, are set to be boosted by an improved water supply.

Work is expected to get underway in Lenaboy Gardens which will see 210 metres of old cast iron water mains prone to leakage replaced with modern pipework.

Irish Water is working with Galway City Council to bring the improvements to fruition, reducing the amount of clean water lost underground.

Work will begin on the site in the coming days and is due to be completed by the end of December.

The works will take place at the junction of Lenaboy Gardens to the R864. In order to deliver this essential upgrade, there may be short term interruptions to the water supply in the area and traffic management will be in place.

The work being undertaken as part of this project is another example of Irish Water's commitment to driving down leakage in Galway.

By the end of 2021 the delivery of the National Leakage Reduction Programme will see €500m invested in reducing the level of leakage across the country by fixing and replacing old and damaged water mains. This will ensure a safe, reliable water supply, which is vital for our health, our environment and our growing population and economy.
