Locals Invited To 'Green' New Castletroy Urban Greenway

Residents accessing the new Castletroy Urban Greenway in Limerick have been invited to help with a community greening project.

Limerick City and County Council is leading a major European-wide project, GoGreenRoutes, which is being developed through funding from the EU's Horizons 2020 strand and is taking place in six cities across Europe.

This project sees local stakeholders come together to create 'nature based solutions' that aim to enhance local biodiversity, active travel and nature connection.


The project in Limerick will focus on the Castletroy Urban Greenway which links schools, homes, park and play grounds and shops in the Castletroy area.

If you have ideas on how to help 'green' the area or are part of community group who would like to get involved, you can register for an introductory online workshop on Thursday 12 November 2021 at 6pm.
