Resurfacing work is to begin on a £355,000 road project in Ballygowan.
The work will take place on the A21 Comber Road and will commence on 13 September.
The improvement work will include resurfacing of the A21 Comber Road, from the Ballygowan Roundabout to a point approximately 50 metres on the Ballygowan side of The Brea, a length of some 1,100 metres.
Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon said: "This significant investment on this important A Class road will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this key transport link. This will benefit all who use it including businesses and residents in the area. I would like to thank the travelling public and local residents in advance for their cooperation while these much needed works are completed."
To complete the scheme safely traffic management measures will be in place from Monday 13 September until Friday 29 October 2021. The traffic management measures will involve full closures on the Comber Road between the hours of 9.30 am and 4:30 pm. During these times a diversion will be in place. The traffic will be diverted along A23 Belfast / Moneyreagh Road, B178 Hillsborough Road and A21 Ballygowan / Comber Road.
The road will be open to traffic outside these hours, Monday to Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday. Local access for residents, and users of schools, and emergency services will be maintained at all times during the works.
Substantial completion of the work is expected by 29 October 2021.
