Work on a £280,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme in Lurgan is to commence on Monday 19 July.

The improvement scheme on Sloan Street, which extends a distance of approximately 765 metres along Sloan Street, Lurgan from the junction of Edward Street to Russell Drive, includes resurfacing of the carriageway and upgrading of road drainage.

Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon said: "This investment will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this section of Sloan Street, Lurgan to the benefit of local residents and those who travel through the area. I would like to thank the public and local residents in advance for their cooperation and ask that they comply with all temporary traffic restrictions while these much needed works are completed."

Due to the nature of the scheme it will be necessary to operate a daily road closure between the hours of 8am and 6pm from Monday 19 July to Friday 23 July and from Monday 26 July to Friday 30 July. During these times a diversion will be in place with traffic being diverted via Edward Street, Millennium Way and Union Street.

The road will be open to traffic in the evenings, local access for residents, access to Lurgan Hospital and emergency services will be maintained at all times during the works although some delays may be experienced.
