Irish Water is on hand to decommission and replace approximately 400 metres of old and damaged water pipes with modern, high density polyethylene (plastic) pipes along Mountain Road.
This forms part of Irish Water's National Leakage Reduction Programme which will reduce the high level of leakage across the country by fixing or replacing ageing water mains.

Farrans began work on Tuesday 25 February 2020, with completion scheduled for March 2020.
Explaining further, Irish Water's Leakage Reduction Programme Regional Lead Dave Murphy said: "Irish Water is committed to safeguarding the water supply for customers in Tubbercurry. These works will involve the decommissioning and replacement of over 438 metres of cast iron water mains along Mountain Road. The works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries and connecting it to the customer's water supply. Where the existing service connections on the public side are lead these will be replaced as part of this improvement work."
