The event, entitled 'Cost Avoidance and Margin Increase' was held in collaboration with Lean Construction Ireland through its South West Branch.

Internationally renowned Lean Expert with McCarthy Building Companies' USA, Felipe Engineer-Manriquez spoke at the event giving examples of how McCarthys have used Lean Construction Practices to double team productivity throughout the Company. There was also a hands on practical group training session for attendees run by Crystal Lean Solutions using Villego Last Planner Training. Attendees were shown how the Last Planner System (LPS) can be used to help deliver projects on-time and on budget. The LPS focuses on the creation of predictable and reliable workflow in construction planning and execution. By focusing on the removing of constraints attendees were shown how the LPS can help to deliver a project on time, with improved quality, and delivering your margin.

Aidan Mangan, Chairman of the CIF Cork Branch, said: "I am delighted to be involved in the Lean Construction, Regional Engagement Seminar 'Cost Avoidance and Margin Increase'. We at the CIF are continually supporting Lean Construction Ireland and the associated stakeholders to ensure that Ireland's Construction Companies are to the fore of emerging technologies. Embracing such technologies as BIM and Lean Construction promotes confidence to indigenous and FDI companies who wish to invest in Ireland and establish state of the art Offices, Manufacturing and Research Facilities in Ireland."

The regional engagement seminar was held on 04 July in the Rochestown Park Hotel, Douglas, Cork.
