Social Housing Boost In Co Wexford

The provision of social housing in County Wexford has been given a massive boost with the opening of 59 new homes.

Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy visited the county late last month to officially open five social housing projects.

Minister Murphy added: "One of the most rewarding parts of my job as Minister is the opportunity to travel around the country meeting families as they get the keys to their own home, and today I want to wish you and your families happiness in your new homes."


The developments included a nine-house scheme in Gorey, as well as a 10-house project and three turnkey homes in Castlebridge.

A further two homes were built in Rosslare, while a turnkey scheme of 35 houses within a larger development in Whiterock Hill were also welcomed.

These new homes follow Wexford County Council's strong housing performance in 2018 when more than 900 families from all across the county were accommodated through a combination of the Council's own build programme, turnkey projects, acquisitions by Approved Housing Bodies, leasing arrangements and accommodation provided by the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) scheme.
