Water Network To Be Improved In Wicklow

A project has been launched to improve the water network in Arklow and Wicklow Town.

The scheme will see water main improvement works delivered as part of Irish Water's national Leakage Reduction Programme.

Around 5.3km of water mains will be replaced in both towns over the next few days.

In Arklow, customers may experience disruption on Wednesday 29 May from 9am-1pm in Churchview, Blackberry Glade, Abbey Park and Abbey Heights. This will be followed by a supply interruption on Liam Mellows Avenue, Abbey Street, Church View, Abbey Park, Abbeyville, Castlepark, Old Chapel Ground, Harbour Court, Tinahisk, South Green, Abbeylands, Ocean and South Key on Thursday 30 May from 10pm-2am. The works being undertaken are part of the construction of 5.3 kilometres of new water mains along the public road and the installation of new service connections from the new water main to each customer's property.


In Wicklow Town, customers on Main Street and Fitzwilliam Square may experience disruption to water supply from 2.30pm-6.30pm on Thursday 30 May and 8am to 12pm on Friday 31 May 2019 as part of the works. The works being undertaken are part of the construction of 346 metres of new water mains along the public road and the installation of new service connections from the new water main to each customer's property.

Homes and businesses in the areas may be affected by reduced water pressure and water outages during the work.
