Larne Water Supply Improved In £2.6m Project

Around 1,400 NI Water customers in Larne are set to benefit from an improved water supply following a multi-million pound investment.

The £2.6 million Killylane Water Trunk Main has been completed, boosting the security of supply for those in the Raloo and Castle Road areas.

Contractor Dawson WAM laid the main in two phases from the Castle Road/Castletown road along the Ballyfore road & Crosshill road to Crosshill Service Reservoir on Tureagh road outside Raloo.


Celebrating the completion of the scheme, Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Cllr Lindsay Miller said: "I am delighted to visit Crosshill Service Reservoir today to mark the completion of this major £2.6 million investment to improve the local water infrastructure.

"The council welcome the completion of this essential water scheme, which will greatly benefit the local community for years to come."

Work began on the project in October 2018 and was completed ahead of schedule in late April 2019.

This scheme will provide a vital source of water, which will be especially important in supplementing increased demand in the area, particularly during future winter periods, summer droughts and/or emergency situations when the infrastructure may be particularly vulnerable.
