Derelict Site In Carrickhill Must Be Set Aside For Social Housing - SF

The Department of Infrastructure is considering an area of derelict land in Carrickhill for potential social housing.

The land is being reviewed after Sinn Féin's housing spokesperson Carál Ní Chuilín MLA contacted the department.

Caral Ní Chuilín said: "As part of my ongoing lobbying for social housing in North Belfast I contacted the Department for Infrastructure to ascertain why land at Clifton Street/Regent St in the Carrick Hill area had not been given to the Housing Executive.


"As a result of this intervention the Department for Infrastructure has said it was not made fully aware of all the facts before making a decision on the future use of the land.

"That decision has now been suspended pending a further review of all the relevant information.

"I am calling on the Housing Executive to now put forward the strongest case possible for the land to be allocated for social housing in North Belfast."
