A £190,000 project to upgrade a play park and pathway in Ballygawley, Co Tyrone, has been completed.
The improved derelict pathway now provides access to the play park via Church Street and the river side.
The play park has been upgraded with new equipment, while landscaping, lighting, kerbing and seating has improved the recreation ground.
This project is the first to be completed under a £2.8 million (m) Rural Development Capital Programme in Mid Ulster.
Deputy Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Mark Glasgow commented on the project: "I'm delighted to see Mid Ulster villages benefit from the Rural Development Programme. Ballygawley is the first of many villages which will see enhancement works and new play park equipment to update and improve their village, for the local community to enjoy. Coming into the summer months, I've no doubt many children and families will have a lot of fun playing in the modernised play park."
A spokesperson for the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) said: "The Department, through Mid Ulster Rural Development Partnership (Local Action Group), has contributed £2.15m capital investment to complete a range of projects in villages across the Mid Ulster District Council area. The partnership approach of the local Council working closely with local communities is the model which brings most benefit to delivering actions identified in the village plans".
